About Haste the Day

Haste the Day formed in 2001 in Carmel, Indiana, as a metalcore band whose name was drawn from a lyric in the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul” by Horatio Spafford. From the start, the group wove Christian themes and faith-based lyrics into their aggressive sound. The original lineup included Brennan Chaulk on guitar and vocals, Devin Chaulk on drums and vocals, and Mike Murphy on bass and vocals. The band soon signed with Solid State Records, a subsidiary of Tooth & Nail Records.

Jimmy Ryan joined Haste the Day as lead vocalist in 2002, and the group released its debut EP, That They May Know You, that same year. The full-length album Burning Bridges followed in 2004, and When Everything Falls arrived in 2005. In 2006, Jimmy Ryan departed and Stephen Keech took over as lead vocalist. Under Keech, the band continued to release albums on Solid State Records, including Pressure the Hinges (2007), which peaked at number 3 on the Top Christian Albums chart and number 89 on the Billboard 200. Dreamer (2008) and Attack of the Wolf King (2010) followed.

The band experienced several lineup changes over the years and eventually disbanded in 2011. However, Haste the Day reunited in 2014 and released the album Coward in 2015. In 2024, the group reunited once more, and their album Dissenter was released in 2026. Through each period of activity and transition, Haste the Day remained recognized for combining metalcore energy with a consistent Christian identity.
