About Crowder
David Wallace Crowder, born November 29, 1971, in Texarkana, Texas, is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and served as a worship leader and pastor at University Baptist Church in that city.
Crowder was the lead singer of the Christian rock and worship group David Crowder*Band from 1996 to 2012. In 2012, he began a solo career under the stage name “Crowder.” His solo albums include Neon Steeple, American Prodigal, I Know a Ghost, Milk & Honey, and The Exile. Notable singles from his solo catalog include “I Am,” “Run Devil Run,” and the song “Come As You Are.”
“Come As You Are” received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song in 2015. His album I Know a Ghost was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Christian Album category. Beyond music, Crowder is the author of the book Praise Habit: Finding God in Sunsets and Sushi.
