About Cody Carnes
Cody Carnes is a contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, and worship leader. He was born on March 25, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia. Carnes began his career in the early 2010s as a member of Gateway Worship while serving at Gateway Church in Dallas, Texas. He launched his solo music career in 2017 after signing with Capitol Christian Music Group. Carnes is married to fellow worship leader Kari Jobe, with whom he frequently collaborates, and they serve at their home church, The Belonging Co., in Nashville, Tennessee.
Carnes released his debut studio album, The Darker the Night / The Brighter the Morning, in 2017. His second studio album, Run to the Father (2020), earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Songs from these projects include “The Cross Has the Final Word” (2017), “Nothing Else” (2019), “Run to the Father” (2019), and “Christ Be Magnified” (2020). Carnes also released the live album God Is Good! in 2022.
Carnes has achieved several notable milestones with his music. “The Blessing,” a 2020 collaboration with Kari Jobe and Elevation Worship, won the GMA Dove Award for Worship Recorded Song of the Year in 2020 and was named Song of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards in 2021. “Run to the Father” and “Nothing Else” each received RIAA Gold Certifications in 2023, while “The Blessing” was certified Platinum that same year. In 2023, Carnes released the song “Firm Foundation (He Won’t),” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian AC Airplay chart in 2024. He also recorded “Too Good to Not Believe” with Brandon Lake in 2021. Throughout his career, Carnes has contributed anthemic songs to contemporary worship music, often working alongside his wife.
