Meaning & Inspiration
“Release” by Ricky Dillard is a gospel choir song of expectation. It begins with an announcement that there is a blessing in the room today, and asks, “Are you ready, get ready,” followed by the answer that it has already been released. The same pattern repeats with a healing and a breakthrough, so each verse names a need and declares it already met.
The middle section turns to the source of this confidence. In God’s presence there is joy, by His Spirit there is peace, and the song gives thanks to God who gives the victory. Those words are close to Psalm 16:11 and 1 Corinthians 15:57. The call to believe for every desire recalls Mark 11:24.
The ending declares that the heavens are open and His Spirit is flowing, whatever the need. The last lines repeat “Released,” leaving the listener with a short, insistent word of faith suited to congregational singing.
