About The Hoppers
The Hoppers are an American Southern gospel family ensemble that began in 1957 in Madison, North Carolina. The group originally performed as the Hopper Brothers before adopting their current name in the late 1970s. The family-based group has included Claude and Connie Hopper, their son Dean, and his wife Kim. The Hoppers have been closely associated with the Gaither Homecoming tours and video series.
In 1981, the group performed at the presidential religious inaugural ceremony for Ronald Reagan. Over the years, they received recognition from the Southern Gospel Music Association, winning the Mixed Vocal Group award in 1982 and 1983. Connie Hopper was honored with the Marvin Norcross Award in 1998. Both Claude and Connie were individually inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Connie in 2010 and Claude in 2014. The group was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2012.
The Hoppers have recorded songs such as “Here I Am,” “Jerusalem,” “Grace Will Always Be Greater,” “Mention My Name,” “The Ride,” “I’ve Come Too Far,” and “Shoutin’ Time.” In 2022 they released the album “Believe.” In 2025, founding members Claude and Connie Hopper announced their retirement from the group. The current lineup includes Dean Hopper, Kim Hopper, and Karlye Hopper.
