Shei Atkins

Shei Atkins is a recording artist, author, and professional life coach who creates music rooted in gospel, R&B, and soul. Based in Houston, Texas, she has built a career around sharing her personal experiences of pain, struggle, and triumph through an inspirational sound that blends contemporary Christian R&B with traditional gospel influences.

Atkins released her debut CD, Life in Stereo, in 2004. The album helped establish her presence in the gospel music scene, and her catalog includes songs such as “Praise My Way Out,” “Your Name,” “Rather Be,” “He Can Fix It,” and “Nothing Compares.” She has also released the single “Get That Body Right” in 2026. In addition to her music, Atkins published her first book, Get a Man, Keep a Man, in 2010.

Her early career earned significant recognition. In 2005, she was named Best New Artist at the UGA Awards Show in Los Angeles. That same year, she received two THHHAA awards—one for Disc of the Year and one for Female Artist of the Year. She has also performed alongside notable gospel and R&B artists such as Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Mary Mary, and Kelly Rowland, sharing stages that further connected her work to the wider gospel music community.
