About Russ Taff
Russ Taff is a singer, songwriter, and speaker known for his work in gospel, contemporary Christian, and Southern gospel music. Born on November 11, 1953, in Farmersville, California, he served as the lead vocalist for The Imperials from 1976 to 1981 and later was a member of the Gaither Vocal Band from 2001 to 2004, also appearing in the Gaither Homecoming video series. Billboard magazine described him as “the single most electrifying voice in Christian music.”
Taff built a notable solo career with albums including Medals, Under Their Influence, The Way Home, and Cover Story. His catalog includes songs such as “Praise the Lord,” “We Will Stand,” “Trumpet of Jesus,” and “I’m Forgiven.” Over the course of his career, he has won six Grammy Awards and sixteen Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards. He has been inducted into the GMA Hall of Fame three times: as a soloist, as a member of The Imperials, and as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band. He is also an inductee of the Christian Music Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Walk of Fame.
Taff is married to Tori Taff, who has co-written lyrics for his songs. His 2018 documentary, Russ Taff: I Still Believe, chronicles his life, career, and personal journey with alcoholism.
