Phil Thompson is a gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader. A Boston, Massachusetts native, he was formerly a member of the urban contemporary gospel group Ashmont Hill before stepping into a solo career. Thompson serves as a worship leader at Jubilee Christian Church, a role that has shaped his music and ministry.
A self-taught musician, Thompson began writing music at age 30. He gained early recognition as a songwriter when his composition “Love Lifted Me” was recorded by JJ Hairston. Thompson launched his solo career in 2017, and his debut album, My Worship, was released the following year. The project reached #1 on Billboard charts and earned him nominations for both Dove Awards and Stellar Awards.
Thompson has continued to release music that reflects his worship leadership. His 2021 album Lion of Judah was followed by the 2023 single “Hallelujah.” In 2024, he released the live album Take It All - Live in Abuja, along with live singles including “Jesus, Lamb of God (Live),” “Nothing but the Blood (feat. Kymberli Joye) [Live],” and “Still Holy (feat. Kymberli Joye) [Live].”
Through his transition from group member to solo artist, Phil Thompson has established himself as a songwriter and worship leader committed to leading others into worship.
