About Neyi Zimu
Neyi Zimu was a South African gospel singer, worship leader, and the founding pastor of All Nations Revival Ministries in Midrand, Johannesburg. Born Moses Gcinumuzi in 1970, he helped shape the landscape of South African gospel music by co-founding the influential gospel groups Family Factory and Joyous Celebration.
Before entering full-time music ministry, Zimu worked as a radio sound engineer for a decade. He launched his solo career with the album Excited in 2001, followed by releases including Ena ke Nako (2003), Message (2007), I Trust in You (2013), and the live DVD and album The Waiting Is Over (2017). His catalog also features songs such as “Jehova Retshepile Wena,” “Lamb of God,” and “Hamba Nami.” He was also a member of the gospel collective Spirit of Praise.
In 2012, Zimu received a South African Music Award (SAMA) for his contributions to gospel music. He passed away in 2019 due to complications from lymphoma, which was also reported as skin cancer or mycosis fungoides. He was survived by his wife, Nelisiziwe Sibisi-Zimu, and their four children.
