Mbuvi

Victor Mbuvi is a Kenyan gospel musician, evangelist, and former lecturer. Born Victor Mbuvi, he began his musical journey as a praise and worship leader in his local church before becoming a member of the a cappella group His Image and later the Injili Group. Prior to focusing full-time on music, he worked as a banker and a lecturer. He holds an MSc in Computer Based Information Systems from the University of Sunderland.

Mbuvi’s music often incorporates traditional Kenyan rhythms and ethnic fusion styles. His early releases include the album Sweet Ndwale (2006) and the song “Nishike.” He followed with the album Wewe (2009) and the song “Kivevelo.” In 2011 he released the album and song “Kwata Kawaya.” Other songs in his catalog include “Mutui Museo (Good Neighbor)” and “Nxukulu.” He announced the upcoming release Ala Makùlasya for 2026.

His work has earned several awards. “Kivevelo” won a Kisima Music Award in 2009 in the Ethnic Fusion category and a Groove Award in 2009 for Traditional Song of the Year. The song “Mutui Museo” received a Groove Award in 2010 for Eastern Song of the Year. In 2011 he earned a Kisima Music Award for Benga Artist of the Year for “Kwata Kawaya.”

Beyond music, Mbuvi has hosted television programs, including a show titled “The Day.” He continues to serve as an evangelist while blending his professional background with a full-time ministry in gospel music.
