About Matt Gilman

Matthew Thomas "Matt" Gilman was born on July 15, 1985, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up as the son of a Lutheran pastor. He began leading worship at his father’s church when he was just fourteen years old, an early start that set the direction for his life in Christian music.

Gilman spent a decade in music ministry at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri, a period that deeply shaped his work as a worship leader and songwriter. During this time, he released several albums, including Holy (2008) and the 2013 project Awaken Love. The latter reached the Billboard Top Christian Albums and Heatseekers Albums charts, marking a notable milestone in his career.

In the years that followed, Gilman served as a worship leader at Deeper Fellowship Church in Orlando, Florida, and collaborated with various worship collectives, including Influence Music. He also founded Throne Room Academy, a platform dedicated to teaching and mentoring in the area of worship and ministry. His catalog includes songs such as “Breathe,” “Redeemed,” “Glory, Honor, Power,” “You Made a Way,” “Why Not Now?” and “Long Live The King (Live At The Grove).”
