About Mary Mary
Mary Mary is an American contemporary gospel duo formed in 1998 in Inglewood, California. The group consists of sisters Erica Atkins-Campbell and Trecina "Tina" Atkins-Campbell. Their name is inspired by two biblical figures: Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene.
The sisters grew up in a large family in Inglewood and began singing in church choirs. They are credited with broadening the fan base of contemporary gospel music by incorporating elements of soul, hip-hop, funk, and jazz. The duo signed with Columbia Records in 1999.
Their catalog includes the albums Thankful, Incredible, Mary Mary, and The Sound, as well as the compilation Go Get It. Notable songs include "Shackles (Praise You)," "Get Up," and "God in Me." Mary Mary has sold over 8 million records worldwide.
The duo has won four Grammy Awards, seventeen Stellar Awards, seven GMA Dove Awards, and two American Music Awards. They were inducted into the Missouri Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2025. Both sisters also starred in their own reality television series, Mary Mary, which aired on WE tv from 2012 to 2017, and have pursued successful solo careers alongside their work as a duo.
