About Citizens
Citizens is an American Christian rock and alternative band formed in 2011 in Seattle, Washington. The group was originally established as a worship collective at the University District campus of Mars Hill Church. Led by vocalist and guitarist Zach Bolen, the band was first known as Citizens & Saints. The current lineup includes Bolen, Brian Eichelberger, Adam Skatula, Dan Folgado, and Connor Hedge. The band is now based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Their musical style has evolved from high-energy indie rock arrangements of hymns to a broader alternative and introspective sound. Through their songwriting, the band often explores themes of faith, doubt, and personal storytelling, reflecting a shift from congregational worship roots toward more intimate and reflective expression.
Citizens released the EP Already / Not Yet in 2012, followed by the self-titled album Citizens in 2013. They continued with Join the Triumph (2014), A Mirror Dimly (2016), Fear (2019), and The Joy of Being (2020). More recent releases include I Can’t Find the Edges of You (2023) and Museum (2025). Over the course of these albums, the band has maintained a consistent presence in the Christian alternative music landscape.
