About Bruz Newton
Bruz Newton is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, dance choreographer, and creative director. He first gained significant recognition in the Kenyan music scene through his 2016 collaboration on the song "Bazokizo" with fellow artist Collo. The song helped establish his presence as an emerging talent, and he followed it with releases such as "Zigwembe" and "Witinesi" in 2017.
In 2018, Newton released the EP Defined Movement, which is categorized as Christian/Gospel music. During this period, he was a prominent figure in youth ministry and performed at various church-led events and conferences. That same year, he released the single "Yesu Nijaz," further marking his place in the gospel music space.
Around 2019, Newton publicly discussed his decision to step away from the gospel music industry, citing disillusionment with its systems. He has since continued his work as a creative professional. In 2024, he released the single "Chemi Chemi," showing his ongoing activity as an artist.
Newton’s stage name “Bruz” originated from a childhood nickname referencing Bruce Lee, a name given to him because of the shape of his eyes.
