About Bob Carlisle
Bob Carlisle is a contemporary Christian singer and songwriter who has received multiple GMA Dove Awards. He was born Robert Mason Carlisle on September 29, 1956, in Santa Ana, California. He began his career performing in clubs in the 1970s and worked as a session musician in the 1980s. Before launching a solo career, he was a member of the bands Allies and Billy Thermal.
Carlisle’s solo career includes albums released on Sparrow Records and Diadem Records. His early solo albums include Bob Carlisle (1993) and The Hope of a Man (1994). Other songs in his catalog include “Mighty Love,” “Father’s Love,” “We Fall Down,” and “Forgiveness.”
He is best known for the song “Butterfly Kisses,” which he wrote for his daughter, Brooke. The song became a crossover success. The album Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace) reached the Billboard 200 chart and was certified double platinum by the RIAA.
In 1997, “Butterfly Kisses” earned Carlisle a Grammy Award for Best Country Song. That same year, it won GMA Dove Awards for Song of the Year and Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year.
