About Bethany Dillon
Bethany Dillon emerged as a prominent young singer-songwriter in contemporary Christian music during the mid-2000s. Born Bethany Joy Adelsberger on September 22, 1988, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, she began playing guitar at age ten and recorded an independent album, Vulnerable, at age thirteen. Her independent work was discovered by an EMI executive, leading to a signing with Sparrow Records.
Dillon released her self-titled debut album, Bethany Dillon, in 2004. That album became the highest-selling female solo debut in the contemporary Christian music genre for that year. She followed it with Imagination in 2005 and Waking Up in 2007. Her music was featured on soundtracks for the films Dreamer (2005) and Bridge to Terabithia (2007).
At the 36th GMA Dove Awards in 2005, Dillon was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year. She received another nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year at the 37th GMA Dove Awards in 2006.
On March 29, 2008, Dillon married Shane Barnard of the duo Shane & Shane. Following her marriage, she began releasing music under the name Bethany Barnard. Her later releases include In Christ Alone: Modern Hymns of Worship (2008), Stop & Listen (2009), A Better Word (2017), All My Questions (2021), and the single “All I Need.”
