in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the sacred books, according to the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

So I turned my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and petition, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.

Nikamwomba Bwana, Mungu wangu, nikaungama, nikasema, Ee Bwana, Mungu mkuu, mwenye kutisha, ashikaye maagano na rehema kwao wampendao, na kuzishika amri zake;
And I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed, “O, Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of loving devotion to those who love Him and keep His commandments,

tumefanya dhambi, tumefanya ukaidi, tumetenda maovu, tumeasi, naam, hata kwa kuyaacha maagizo yako na hukumu zako;
we have sinned and done wrong. We have acted wickedly and rebelled. We have turned away from Your commandments and ordinances.

wala hatukuwasikiliza watumishi wako, manabii, ambao kwa jina lako walisema na wafalme wetu, na wakuu wetu, na baba zetu, na watu wote wa nchi.
We have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, fathers, and all the people of the land.

Ee Bwana, haki ina wewe, lakini kwetu sisi kuna haya ya uso, kama hivi leo; kwa watu wa Yuda, na kwa wenyeji wa Yerusalemu, na kwa Israeli wote, walio karibu na hao walio mbali, katika nchi zote ulikowafukuza, kwa sababu ya makosa yao waliyokukosa.
To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, and all Israel near and far, in all the countries to which You have driven us because of our unfaithfulness to You.

Ee Bwana, kwetu sisi kuna haya ya uso, kwa wafalme wetu, na wakuu wetu, na baba zetu, kwa sababu tumekutenda dhambi.
O LORD, we are covered with shame—our kings, our leaders, and our fathers—because we have sinned against You.

Rehema na msamaha ni kwa Bwana Mungu wetu, ingawa tumemwasi;
To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, even though we have rebelled against Him
10
wala hatukuitii sauti ya Bwana, Mungu wetu, kwa kwenda katika sheria zake, alizoziweka mbele yetu kwa kinywa cha watumishi wake, manabii.
and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God to walk in His laws, which He set before us through His servants the prophets.

Naam, Israeli wote wameihalifu sheria yako, kwa kugeuka upande, wasiisikilize sauti yako; basi kwa hiyo laana imemwagwa juu yetu, na uapo ule ulioandikwa katika sheria ya Musa, mtumishi wa Mungu; kwa sababu tumemtenda dhambi.
All Israel has transgressed Your law and turned away, refusing to obey Your voice; so the oath and the curse written in the Law of Moses the servant of God has been poured out on us, because we have sinned against You.

Naye ameyathibitisha maneno yake, aliyoyanena juu yetu, na juu ya waamuzi wetu waliotuamua, kwa kumletea mambo maovu makuu; maana chini ya mbingu zote halikutendeka jambo kama hili, lilivyotendeka juu ya Yerusalemu.
You have carried out the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a great disaster. For under all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.

Kama ilivyoandikwa katika sheria ya Musa, mabaya haya yote yametupata lakini hata hivyo hatukumwomba Bwana, Mungu wetu, atupe fadhili zake, ili tugeuke na kuyaacha maovu yetu, na kuitambua kweli yake.
Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our iniquities and giving attention to Your truth.

Basi Bwana ameyavizia mabaya hayo, akatuletea; maana Bwana, Mungu wetu ni mwenye haki katika kazi zake zote azitendazo; na sisi hatukuitii sauti yake.
Therefore the LORD has kept the calamity in store and brought it upon us. For the LORD our God is righteous in all He does; yet we have not obeyed His voice.

Na sasa, Ee Bwana Mungu wetu, uliyewatoa watu wako hawa katika nchi ya Misri kwa mkono hodari, ukajipatia sifa, kama ilivyo leo; tumefanya dhambi, tumetenda maovu.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who made for Yourself a name renowned to this day, we have sinned; we have acted wickedly.

Ee Bwana sawasawa na haki yako yote, nakusihi, hasira yako na ghadhabu yako zigeuzwe na kuuacha mji wako Yerusalemu, mlima wako mtakatifu; maana kwa sababu ya dhambi zetu, na maovu ya baba zetu, Yerusalemu na watu wako wamepata kulaumiwa na watu wote wanaotuzunguka.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.

Basi sasa, Ee Mungu wetu, yasikilize maombi ya mtumishi wako, na dua zake, ukaangazishe uso wako juu ya patakatifu pako palipo ukiwa, kwa ajili ya Bwana.
So now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of Your servant. For Your sake, O Lord, cause Your face to shine upon Your desolate sanctuary.

Ee Mungu wangu, tega sikio lako, ukasikie; fumbua macho yako ukautazame ukiwa wetu, na mji ule ulioitwa kwa jina lako; maana hatukutolei maombi yetu kwa sababu ya haki yetu, lakini kwa sababu ya rehema zako nyingi.
Incline Your ear, O my God, and hear; open Your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears Your name. For we are not presenting our petitions before You because of our righteous acts, but because of Your great compassion.

Ee Bwana, usikie; Ee Bwana, usamehe; Ee Bwana, usikilize, ukatende, usikawie; kwa ajili yako wewe, Ee Mungu wangu; kwa sababu mji wako na watu wako wanaitwa kwa jina lako.
O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people bear Your name.”

Basi hapo nilipokuwa nikisema, na kuomba, na kuiungama dhambi yangu, na dhambi ya watu wangu Israeli, na kuomba dua yangu mbele za Bwana, Mungu wangu, kwa ajili ya mlima mtakatifu wa Mungu wangu;
While I was speaking, praying, confessing my sin and that of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God concerning His holy mountain—

naam, nilipokuwa nikinena katika kuomba, mtu yule, Gabrieli, niliyemwona katika njozi hapo kwanza, akirushwa upesi, alinigusa panapo wakati wa dhabihu ya jioni.
while I was still praying, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice.

Akaniagiza, akaongea nami, akasema, Ee Danielii, nimetokea sasa, ili nikupe akili upate kufahamu.
He instructed me and spoke with me, saying: “O Daniel, I have come now to give you insight and understanding.

Mwanzo wa maombi yako ilitolewa amri, nami nimekuja kukupasha habari; maana wewe unapendwa sana; basi itafakari habari hii, na kuyafahamu maono haya.
At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:

Muda wa majuma sabini umeamriwa juu ya watu wako, na juu ya mji wako mtakatifu, ili kukomesha makosa, na kuishiliza dhambi, na kufanya upatanisho kwa ajili ya uovu, na kuleta haki ya milele, na kutia muhuri maono na unabii, na kumtia mafuta yeye aliye mtakatifu.
Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city to stop their transgression, to put an end to sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

Basi ujue na kufahamu, ya kuwa tangu kuwekwa amri ya kutengeneza na kuujenga upya Yerusalemu hata zamani zake masihi aliye mkuu; kutakuwa na majuma saba; na katika majuma sitini na mawili utajengwa tena pamoja na njia kuu zake na handaki, naam, katika nyakati za taabu.
Know and understand this: From the issuance of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah, the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of distress.

Na baada ya yale majuma sitini na mawili, masihi atakatiliwa mbali, naye atakuwa hana kitu; na watu wa mkuu atakayekuja watauangamiza mji, na patakatifu; na mwisho wake utakuwa pamoja na gharika, na hata mwisho ule vita vitakuwapo; ukiwa umekwisha kukusudiwa.
Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. Then the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.

Naye atafanya agano thabiti na watu wengi kwa muda wa juma moja; na kwa nusu ya juma hiyo ataikomesha sadaka na dhabihu; na mahali pake litasimama chukizo la uharibifu; na hivyo, hata ukomo, na ghadhabu iliyokusudiwa imemwagwa juu yake mwenye kuharibu.
And he will confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of the temple will come the abomination that causes desolation, until the decreed destruction is poured out upon him.”
