Philip Adzale - In Your Presence I am Content Lyrics
Lyrics
For in Your presence I am content
Oh Lord, In Your presence I am content
In Your presence there is life
Expressions of Your love
Revelation of Your power and might
In Your presence I can move
My love song offering
I am in the presence of my king
In Your presence I am content
Oh Lord, In Your presence I am content
In Your presence there is life
Expressions of Your love
Revelation of Your power and might
In Your presence I can move
My love song offering
I am in the presence of my king
In Your presence I am content
Oh Lord, In Your presence I am content
In Your presence there is life
Expressions of Your love
Revelation of Your power and might
In Your presence I can move
My love song offering
I am in the presence of my king

Meaning & Inspiration
I keep playing this over in my head, thinking about that line, "In Your presence there is life." It’s so simple, but it stops me. It feels like David in the Psalms—the one about how in His presence there is fullness of joy. That idea that life isn't just breathing, but actually being close to Him. It’s hard to sit with sometimes because I know my days are usually full of everything but that, yet the song makes it sound so steady, so available. Is it really that straightforward? We get so caught up in looking for Him in the big things, but the lyrics keep coming back to just being there, like being with a King.
It makes me wonder if I'm missing the point by waiting for some grand sign of His power. The words say there's a "revelation of Your power and might" right there in the presence, which tracks with how God showed up in the tabernacle, not necessarily in the way people expected, but just in His dwelling among them. Still, calling it "contentment" feels like a tall order. I guess if you're standing before a King who actually loves you, the rest of the noise should fade, right? It’s hard to reconcile that with how messy life feels, but maybe that's the whole point of the song. It’s a reach toward something I know is true even when I don't feel it—that being near Him is the only place where the moving and the living actually make sense. I’m still stuck on whether I’m just singing about a feeling or if I’m really accepting that I’m standing before a King who isn't going anywhere.
