Released: 24 Mar 2020
Lyrics
oh oh oh oh yeah
I live above the systems of the world
I totally rely on Your word
No matter what may come my way
No matter what I face
It's You You I live for
I live above the systems of the world
I totally rely on Your word
No matter what may come my way
No matter what I face
It's You You I live for
I live for You Lord in a world
In a world of so many voices
Lord I will trust in Your precious word
I believe in Your name
In a world where everyone's talking
In a world where everyone is talking
Lord I delight in Your precious word
It's only You that matter
Only You make sense
It doesn't matter what the world says
It's only You I live for
It's only You that matter
Only You make sense
It doesn't matter what the world says
It's only You I live for
Oh oh oh *3 Oh Lord
It's only You I live for
Only You Jesus
I live above the systems of the world
I totally rely on Your word
No matter what may come my way
No matter what I face
It's You You You I live for

Moses Bliss- You I Live For
Meaning & Inspiration
I’ve been sitting here with Moses Bliss’s You I Live For playing on a loop, and honestly, it’s been convicting. There is a specific line that keeps pulling at me: "I live above the systems of the world."
It’s such a bold claim, isn’t it? When I hear that, my mind immediately jumps to Romans 12:2—"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind." We talk about that verse constantly in church circles, but actually living it? That’s where the tension starts. I look at my own life, and I see how often I’m swayed by the "systems" of my culture—the need for validation, the fear of missing out, the constant hum of anxiety that comes from listening to the wrong voices.
Bliss sings, "In a world of so many voices / Lord I will trust in Your precious word." That hits home. We live in an age of information overload. Everyone has an opinion, a brand, or a new way to fix your life. It’s deafening. But then he pivots to this realization: "It’s only You that matter / Only You make sense."
I find myself wondering if I actually believe that. When everything is chaotic, do I run to His word as my primary source of truth, or do I run to Google? Do I seek the "systems" to provide my security, or do I truly rely on the One who says He is the way, the truth, and the life?
There’s a beautiful simplicity in the chorus. It isn’t complicated theology; it’s a reorientation. It’s the sound of someone stopping in the middle of a noisy, opinionated world and deciding, this is where I stand. "No matter what may come my way / No matter what I face." It’s easy to sing that on a Sunday morning when everything is calm. It’s much harder to sing it on a Tuesday when the bank account is low or a relationship is falling apart.
I’m struck by how he says he "delights" in the word. Not just that he reads it or obeys it, but that he finds joy in it. Psalm 119:16 comes to mind: "I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word." That’s the goal, isn’t it? To get to a place where God’s word isn’t just a rulebook for navigating the systems of the world, but the very thing that makes the most sense of our existence.
I don’t know if I’ve reached that level of reliance yet. There are still days where I feel like I’m drowning in the "systems," trying to find my footing in the shifting sand of cultural opinion. But listening to this, I’m reminded that I don’t have to stay there. I can look up. I can choose to live for the One who actually makes sense of the mess.
It’s a simple song, but maybe that’s the point. Faith shouldn't have to be complex to be transformative. Sometimes, we just need to be reminded of where our loyalty lies. I think I’ll be sitting with these words for a while longer. There’s still a lot of room for them to sink in.
