Joshua Micah - Who Says? Lyrics
Lyrics
Sometimes you wonder if you got it
Wonder if you got it in you
Some days looking for the reason why
Feels like standing on a runway
Standing out on a runway lately
Watching everybody else fly by
See that wildfire in your eyes
Keep on burning keep that dream alive
Can't let go of what you got inside
Maybe it's crazy
Maybe it's meant to be
Who says you gotta have it all figured out
Who says you'll never feel alone in the crowd
Who says you gotta be like everyone else
Who says?
Hold on with everything you got it everything you got it in you
Don't stop I can see the finish line
One shot are you gonna take it
Are you gonna take it this time
One life don't it pass you by
See that wildfire in your eyes
Keep on burning keep that dream alive
Can't let go of what you got inside
Maybe it's crazy
Maybe it's meant to be
Who says you gotta have it all figured out
Who says you'll never feel alone in the crowd
Who says you gotta be like everyone else
Who says?
Oh Oh maybe it's meant to be.
Maybe it's meant to be
Oh Oh nothing is stopping me
Nothing is stopping me
Who says you gotta have it all figured out
Who says you'll never feel alone in the crowd
Who says you gotta be like everyone else
Who says?
Who says you gotta have it all figured out
Who says you'll never feel alone in the crowd
Who says you gotta be like everyone else
Who says?

Joshua Micah - Who Says?
Meaning & Inspiration
I’m standing here in the back of the room while this track by Joshua Micah hits the speakers. It’s got that high-energy, pop-synth push that makes you want to move, but I find myself checking the exits.
"Who says you gotta have it all figured out?"
It sounds like a relief, doesn’t it? A permission slip to stop white-knuckling your life. But let’s be honest: when the bills are piling up on the kitchen counter and the bank account is screaming, "not having it figured out" isn't a quirky personality trait. It’s a terrifying reality. When you’re sitting in a silent house after a loss, the question "Who says?" feels flimsy. The "who" is often the crushing weight of your own survival. If this is just a rhetorical shrug, it’s Cheap Grace. It’s the kind of thing you say to someone at a party when you don't actually know how to help them carry their burden.
But then I look at the text. Paul, in 2 Corinthians, talks about boasting in his weakness, not because weakness is a fun aesthetic, but because that’s where the power actually shows up. The world loves a trajectory—the runway Micah sings about, the takeoff, the finish line. We are obsessed with the "wildfire" in our eyes. But what happens when the wildfire is just a pile of cold ash?
Micah asks, "Who says you’ll never feel alone in the crowd?" That’s the line that actually caught me. That’s the real stuff. Most worship music tries to convince you that if you just pray hard enough or sing loud enough, the loneliness will vanish like smoke. But here, the song admits the loneliness is part of the experience. It acknowledges the isolation even when you’re surrounded by people.
If we’re going to talk about faith, let’s stop pretending it’s a constant upward climb toward a "finish line." That’s just gym-class motivation set to a bass track. Faith is the ugly, messy work of showing up when you haven't got it "figured out" and when you are alone in the crowd. It’s not about ignoring the runway; it’s about acknowledging that maybe you weren't meant to fly on your own strength in the first place.
I’m skeptical of the "nothing is stopping me" hook. It feels like a hustle. But the question—"Who says?"—that’s a decent place to start a conversation with God. Because if the world is the one saying you have to be like everyone else, then the Bible has been telling us the opposite since the beginning. We were never meant to be like everyone else; we were meant to be broken vessels holding something that doesn't belong to us.
I’m still crossing my arms. I’m still waiting for the silence to be answered. But at least this track isn't trying to sell me a lie about having it all together. It’s just asking the question, and maybe that’s enough to keep the conversation moving for a little while longer.
