About Whisnants
The Whisnants are a Southern Gospel music group based in North Carolina. The group first began in 1970 in Morganton, North Carolina, as "The John Whisnant Family." In 1990, leadership passed to Jeff and Susan Whisnant, and the ensemble transitioned to the name "The Whisnants." Jeff Whisnant remains the only original member of the family group still involved. The group operates as a mixed family ensemble and a full-time ministry, performing across the United States as well as internationally in Canada, Hawaii, and on various cruises.
The group’s current membership includes Jeff and Susan Whisnant, Aaron Hise, and their sons, Austin and Ethan Whisnant. Over the decades, the Whisnants have become a consistent presence in Southern Gospel music, maintaining a multi-generational family focus within their ministry and recordings. Their discography includes the albums He Made a Way, Been Blessed, He Will Be God, and A Glimpse of Grace.
The Whisnants have achieved eighteen number-one songs between 2001 and 2025. Their song "What You Took From Me" ranked number one on the Singing News Top 40 Year End Chart in 2003, and "Even In The Valley" achieved the same ranking in 2004. In July 2025, their single "If Not For Christ" was a number-one song in Singing News Magazine. The group also released the single "He Can Move That Stone."
