TY Bello

TY Bello, born Toyin Sokefun-Bello, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, photographer, and philanthropist. She was born on January 14, 1978, in Ogun State, Nigeria, and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Lagos. Before launching her solo career, she was a member of the defunct gospel music group KUSH, an acronym for Kinetically Ushering Salvation into Hearts and Homes. Outside of music, Bello served as the official photographer for former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and is a member of the photography collective Depth of Field.

Her solo music career includes several albums. She released Greenland in 2008, followed by The Future in 2011, The Morning Songbook in 2014, and The Spirit of Light (a collaboration with Tope Alabi) in 2019. She continued with We Are Fire in 2022 and Heaven Has Come in 2023. Bello is also known for hosting spontaneous worship sessions and collaborative gospel projects. Her catalog includes singles such as “Greenland” and “Yahweh.”

TY Bello’s debut album, Greenland, earned her a Nigeria Music Award and a Sound City Award. Through her music and photography, she has maintained a dual career that reflects her faith and artistic commitment.
