Tope Alabi

Tope Alabi is a widely recognized Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and composer known for her ministry and contributions to gospel music. Born on October 27, 1970, in Lagos State, Nigeria, she studied Mass Communication at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, graduating in 1990. Her career began in the 1990s as an actress and singer with the theater group Jesters International, and she has since composed over 350 soundtracks for the Yoruba film industry.

Alabi released her debut gospel album, Ore ti o Common, in 2000, followed by Agbara Nla (2001), Angeli Mi (2007), Yes and Amen (2018), The Spirit of Light (a collaboration with TY Bello, 2019), Logan Ti O De (2019), Igbowo Eda (2023), and Oluwa Ni: The Spontaneous Worship (2024). She is married to Soji Alabi, who serves as her music producer and manager, and together they operate the music label Gospel Vibes and the Mardebra Comforter Foundation.

Known by the nicknames “Ore ti o Common” and “Agbo Jesu,” Alabi has received several honors, including a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, Gospel Artiste of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Best Gospel Musician at the City People Music Awards, and a Proclamation of Congressional Recognition in 2023. She also hosts an initiative called “At Home with Tope Alabi” to mentor younger gospel psalmists.
