Solly Mahlangu

Solly Mahlangu is a South African gospel musician and pastor, born in Johannesburg in 1971. He began ministering in song at the age of 10 and has been a professional recording artist since 1991. Mahlangu is also the founder of the Word Praise Christian Centre International in Tembisa, Johannesburg, and previously served as a national music director at Victory Fellowship Church.

Mahlangu has released several live recordings, including Obrigado and Mwamba Mwamba, both on DVD and CD. His catalog includes songs such as “Siyabonga Jesu,” “Inyang’ Enkulu,” “Masibulele Ku Yesu,” “Pharaoh You Are Too Late,” and “Oa Ntaela Moya.” His work has been recognized at major South African music awards. In 2009, he won the “Best Gospel Song” award at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards. His album Mwamba Mwamba earned the “Best Traditional Faith Music Album” prize at the South African Music Awards. In 2013, he took home the “Best Gospel Album” award at the Metro FM Awards.

Mahlangu is married to Khosi (also known as Nomkosi) Mahlangu, and the couple has three daughters: Thando, Amani, and Asante. In 2013, he was appointed as an ambassador for the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), reflecting his involvement beyond music and ministry.
