Shawn McDonald is a contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter known for his acoustic-driven sound and transparent lyrics about faith, personal struggle, and healing. Born Shawn Michael McDonald on September 4, 1977, he was raised in Eugene, Oregon. He has spoken openly about a difficult childhood and past struggles with addiction and legal issues before experiencing a conversion to Christianity, a theme that became central to his songwriting.
McDonald’s musical style blends acoustic guitar with elements of pop, rock, and folk. He signed with the Christian record label Sparrow Records in 2004 and released his debut album, Simply Nothing, that same year.
