About Mr. Talkbox
Byron Manard Chambers, known as Mr. Talkbox, is a Christian musician and self-taught instrumentalist who specializes in the talk box, an effect device he uses to "vocalize" instrument output. Born on July 30, 1976, in Orlando, Florida, he was raised in a musical household and began his career as a drummer in his parents' gospel group at age five or six. His musical style encompasses Christian hip hop, Christian R&B, urban contemporary gospel, and funk.
Before building a solo career centered on his faith, Chambers toured as a keyboard player with the pop group *NSYNC. He eventually decided to step away from that world to focus on his family and his Christian walk. He is based in Nashville, Tennessee, and has released several projects, including the albums My Testimony (2004), The Remixes Animated (2008), and My Time (2010), along with the EP Show Me the Way (2013). He also released the single "Never Leave You," featuring J Moss and Lil Byron.
Chambers has collaborated with a number of Christian and gospel artists, including TobyMac, Martha Munizzi, Group 1 Crew, and CeCe Winans. He contributed the talk box intro to Bruno Mars' song "24K Magic," which later won a Grammy Award. He also won a Dove Award for co-writing the Group 1 Crew song "Movin'" and received a Grammy Award nomination for the TobyMac track "Feel It," on which he is featured.
