About Mark Schultz
Mark Schultz is a contemporary Christian music artist and songwriter who began his career not on a stage but in a church youth room. Born Mark Mitchell Schultz on September 16, 1970, in Colby, Kansas, he attended Kansas State University and sang with the Kansas State Singers. After moving to Nashville in 1994, he served as a youth director at First Presbyterian Church. It was there that his songwriting career began, writing songs for the youth group and families he worked with.
In 2000, a concert at the Ryman Auditorium led to a record deal with Myrrh Records. His self-titled debut album, Mark Schultz, was released that same year. Schultz is an adopted child, and that personal experience has shaped both his music and his advocacy. He has been involved in orphan care through the Remember Me Mission, and his songs often reflect themes of family and redemption. Among his best-known recordings are “He’s My Son,” “Letters from War,” and “Back in His Arms Again.”
His catalog includes the live project Mark Schultz Live: A Night of Stories & Songs (2005), as well as the studio albums Broken & Beautiful (2006), Renaissance (2011), and Hymns (2014). Schultz has achieved multiple No. 1 singles on Christian radio charts and has been recognized for his songwriting on Billboard’s Christian Adult Contemporary Songwriter list.
His work has also earned industry honors. In 2003, “Back in His Arms Again” was named BMI’s Christian Song of the Year. The following year, his concert DVD Mark Schultz Live: A Night of Stories & Songs won a GMA Dove Award for Long Form Music Video of the Year and was later certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A.
