Mandisa Lynn Hundley (1976–2024) was an American gospel and contemporary Christian recording artist. Born in Citrus Heights, California, she later resided in the Nashville, Tennessee area. She gained national attention as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, where she finished in ninth place. Before her solo career, she studied vocal performance at American River College and Fisk University, where she was a member of the Fisk Jubilee Singers. She also worked as a session and backup vocalist for artists including Trisha Yearwood and Shania Twain.
Her debut album, True Beauty (2007), debuted at No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart. She released five more studio albums: Freedom (2009), What If We Were Real (2011), Overcomer (2013), and Out of the Dark (2017). Her catalog includes the songs "Stronger" (2011), "Overcomer" (2013), and "Unfinished" (2017).
Mandisa won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Overcomer in 2014. The song "Overcomer" reached RIAA platinum certification in 2020, while "Stronger" and "Good Morning" each achieved RIAA Gold certification. She was an advocate for mental health awareness and authored a memoir titled Out of the Dark: My Journey Through The Shadows To Find God's Joy.
