Manafest, the stage name of Canadian singer, rapper, and songwriter Christopher Scott Greenwood, is a Christian artist whose music blends hip-hop, rock, and electronic elements. Born on July 19, 1979, in Pickering, Ontario, Greenwood became a Christian at a Bible camp during his youth. After a skateboarding accident in 1998 ended his hopes of becoming a professional skater, he shifted his focus to music.
Greenwood debuted his first EP, Misled Youth, in 2001. He was signed to BEC Recordings for a decade before becoming an independent artist in 2015. His musical style evolved from urban hip-hop to include rap rock, alternative rock, and electronic-based hip-hop. He released a series of albums during his time with BEC Recordings: My Own Thing (2003), Epiphany (2005), Glory (2006), Citizens Activ (2008), The Chase (2010), Fighter (2012), and The Moment (2014).
His work garnered recognition at the GMA Canada Covenant Awards. The song “Freedom” won Modern Rock/Alternative Song of the Year in 2002. The album Epiphany won Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year in 2005, Glory won the same category in 2007, and Live In Concert won Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year in 2011. The single “Avalanche” charted on the Billboard Christian Songs list.
Beyond recording, Greenwood authored a book titled FIGHTER in 2014. The following year, he launched Fanbase University, an educational platform designed to train independent musicians. His career reflects a steady evolution from urban hip-hop into a broader Christian rock and rap style, while also mentoring other artists through his independent work.
