Lee Williams (1946–2021) was the founder and lead vocalist of Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's, a traditional gospel quartet whose name stands for "Qualified Christian Singers." Originating in Tupelo, Mississippi, the group was active from 1968 until Williams' retirement in 2018. Known for their soulful harmonies and energetic live performances, they maintained a presence in gospel music for five decades.
Before the group gained national recognition, Williams balanced his music career with a 24-year career as a truck driver. He did not transition to full-time performance until the mid-1990s. The group’s breakthrough came after signing with MCG Records in 1996, which led to their album Jesus Is Alive and Well that same year. Love Will Go All the Way followed in 1998, featuring the song "I've Learned to Lean."
The Spiritual QC's built a reputation for an extensive touring schedule, frequently performing over 200 dates per year at the height of their career. Good Time: Live in Memphis (2000) reached the Top Ten on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart. The group released Tell the Angels: Live in Memphis (2005), Fall on Me (2009)—which also charted on the Billboard 200—and Memphis Gospel Live! (2015).
The group received five Stellar Gospel Music Awards at the 2004 ceremony and later received the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. In 2016, Lee Williams was granted an honorary doctorate of sacred music from Bible Believers Christian College and Seminary.
