Laurette Chala

Laurette Chala is a Congolese gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader based in Australia. She was born on August 8, 1990, into a family of seven children. Part of her childhood was spent in the Tongogara refugee camp in Zimbabwe before she and her family moved to Australia. She attended Yeronga State High School.

Chala pursued studies in counseling psychology, focusing on supporting individuals affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health challenges. From 2010 to 2016, she was a member of the music group Laurette N James (LNJ), before beginning her solo gospel career after feeling a calling to serve the Lord.

Her solo catalog includes the album Hosanna (2019), as well as the single “OMG” (2023) and the songs “Na Pesa Yo Nini” featuring Deborah Lukalu, “Mitema” featuring Lord Lombo, “Inuliwe,” and “Mokonzi.” For “Na Pesa Yo Nini,” she received a nomination for “Video of Excellence” at the 2019 Africa Gospel Music & Media Awards (AGMMA).
