Keith Getty

Keith Getty is a Northern Irish Christian singer, songwriter, and composer best known for modern hymnody and congregational worship music. Born Julian Keith Getty on December 16, 1974, in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, he studied music at St Chad’s College, Durham University.

He co-wrote the hymn “In Christ Alone” with Stuart Townend in 2001, a song later named one of the top five hymns of all time by The British Hymn Society in 2012. Getty’s catalog also includes “His Mercy Is More,” “He Will Hold Me Fast,” “Christ Our Hope in Life and Death,” “The Power of the Cross,” “By Faith,” and “Speak O Lord.” He performs and records with his wife, Kristyn Getty, as the duo Keith & Kristyn Getty.

Getty is a co-founder of Getty Music, an organization that includes a record label, publishing house, and the annual “Sing!” conference. Together with his wife, he founded the Getty Music Foundation to provide resources for congregational singing and theology. He has received honorary doctorates from Lancaster Bible College and Dallas Baptist University.

His work has been recognized with two GMA Dove Awards and a Grammy Award nomination for the album Confessio: Irish American Roots. In 2018, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to music and hymn writing.
