Joyful Way

Joyful Way Incorporated is a non-denominational Christian evangelistic music group based in Accra, Ghana. Founded in 1972, the group originated from a passion for Christian music among students at Mfantsipim School, Adisadel College, and Wesley Girls High School. The group was formed by the merger of two earlier groups known as Noise of Joy and the Evangels. The founder is Rev. Professor Emmanuel Lartey.

The ministry focuses on evangelism through contemporary gospel music and has established cells on various high school and tertiary campuses. Over its history, the group has released numerous albums, with eighteen credited to them. Notable releases include Joyful Noise (1978), Jesus Thank You (1991), Osabarima (1994), Barima Yesu (2001), Nyame Ye Ohen (2004), Higher Praise (2011), Teruah (Shouts of Praise) (2022), and The Shift II – Total Surrender (2025).

Joyful Way has received several awards over the decades. The group was named Best Gospel Group in Ghana by ECRAG in 1988. In 1990, they received the Most Outstanding Group award at PAFAM. At the Ghana Music Awards in 2003, they won Best Mass Ministry and Best Packaging and Sleeve Design for Barima Yesu. That same year they also received Unity Awards. In 2007, the group was honored with MTN Ceval Gospel Awards.

Throughout its history, members of Joyful Way have balanced their music ministry with professional careers, serving in fields such as law, medicine, engineering, and education. The group remains a fixture in Ghanaian contemporary gospel music.
