About Jonathan Helser
Jonathan Helser is an American songwriter and worship leader based in Sophia, North Carolina. Alongside his wife, Melissa Helser, he leads a ministry and discipleship school known as “The 18 Inch Journey.” In 2013, the couple founded the artist collective called Cageless Birds, and since 2014, they have been part of the Bethel Music collective. Their work in Christian music has centered on themes of worship and discipleship.
The Helsers have released several studio albums, including Endless Ocean, Bottomless Sea, On the Shores, and Beautiful Surrender. The latter album, released in 2016, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and reached No. 54 on the Billboard 200. Jonathan Helser is also featured on several Bethel Music releases, including the songs “No Longer Slaves” on We Will Not Be Shaken, “Raise a Hallelujah” on VICTORY, “I Believe” on Homecoming, and “You Came (Lazarus)” on Peace, Vol. II.
In 2016, “No Longer Slaves” won the award for Worship Song of the Year at the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards. Jonathan Helser continues to create music within the Christian genre, with his recorded work appearing on multiple projects alongside the Bethel Music collective and through his own releases with his wife.
