About Joe L Barnes

Joe L. Barnes is a singer, songwriter, and worship leader whose blend of Gospel, Roots, Urban, R&B, and worship music has shaped his career in Christian music. A Kentucky native, Barnes serves as a worship leader at The Shepherd’s Tent in Covington, Georgia. He was a member of the contemporary worship collective Maverick City Music before transitioning into a solo career. In March 2024, he signed as a solo artist with RCA Inspiration and Provident Entertainment, and later that year released his debut solo album, The Good Shepherd.

Barnes co-wrote the song “Promises,” which reached number one on the US Hot Christian Songs and Hot Gospel Songs charts. The song was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and received a nomination for Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year at the 2020 GMA Dove Awards. As a member of Maverick City Music, Barnes earned a Grammy Award in 2022. His songwriting credits extend to other artists, including Tasha Cobbs Leonard and JJ Hairston.

Beyond the studio, Barnes manages a community initiative called “Feed the 25.” His catalog includes songs such as “Million Little Miracles,” “Altar,” “Ruins,” “Come & Move,” “Build My Life,” and “Count Me In,” which feature collaborations with artists like Naomi Raine, Ryan Ofei, and Aaron Cole.
