About Jemimmah Thiong'o
Jemimmah Thiong’o is a Kenyan gospel musician and songwriter known for her message-driven worship music. Born into a family of eleven children and raised in a Christian household, she released her first album, Alinitua, in 2003. Over the years, she built a catalog of well-known songs including “Mwenye Baraka” (also known as “Akisema Atakubariki”), “Pendo la Ajabu,” and “Mipango Ya Mungu.” She later released the album Imani and additional singles such as “Sauti Yangu,” “Nipe Amani,” and “Mganga.”
Thiong’o’s career has included seasons away from the public spotlight as she focused on family and personal healing. She experienced significant personal loss, including the death of multiple siblings and, in 2024, the passing of her husband, Francis Thiong’o. Through these challenges, she has continued to share her music and ministry.
Her songwriting has been recognized with a Groove Awards recognition. In recent years, she has also become involved in legal proceedings concerning copyright and royalties for her music on digital platforms, advocating for artists’ rights in the digital space.
