About Jekalyn Carr
Jekalyn Almonique Carr is a gospel singer, songwriter, actress, author, and motivational speaker who began singing and ministering professionally at age fifteen. Born on April 22, 1997, in Arkansas, she has built her career as an independent artist, managing her music and business ventures alongside her father.
Carr first gained attention with the song “Greater Is Coming” in 2012. She followed with the albums It’s Gonna Happen (2014) and The Life Project (2016). Her 2016 single “You’re Bigger” and the 2017 track “You Will Win” expanded her reach. She later released One Nation Under God (2018), Changing Your Story (2020), and the self-titled JEKALYN (2023).
In 2021, she became the first gospel artist inducted into the Women’s Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has also received multiple Stellar Gospel Music Awards and GMA Dove Awards. In 2025, she won a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance/Song for “One Hallelujah.” Her other honors include the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and a place on Ebony Magazine’s “Power 100” list in 2014.
Beyond music, Carr has hosted the “Jekalyn Carr Family Affair Show” on radio and appeared in the OWN TV series Greenleaf and the film Never Heard. She continues to work as a songwriter and minister.
