About Jason Gray
Jason Gray is a contemporary Christian singer-songwriter whose music often explores themes of vulnerability and faith. Born Jason Jeffrey Gay on January 18, 1972, in Minnesota, he legally changed his name to Jason Gray in 2006. Before entering full-time music ministry in 1999, Gray spent six years serving in youth ministry. As a person who stutters, he frequently emphasizes the idea of finding strength in weakness throughout his work.
Gray signed with Centricity Music in 2006 and released his major-label debut album, All the Lovely Losers, the following year. He went on to release several albums, including A Way to See in the Dark (2011), Love Will Have the Final Word (2014), and Where the Light Gets In (2016). The latter debuted in the Top 5 of Billboard's Top Christian Albums Chart. In 2020, Gray released Order Disorder Reorder, and in 2025, he released the single "Comfort & Joy."
Gray's songwriting has earned him recognition within the Christian music industry. He won ASCAP Performance Awards for "More Like Falling in Love" (2011) and "Good to Be Alive" (2012). "Good to Be Alive" also received the Most Performed Song Award at ASCAP's 35th Annual Christian Music Awards in 2013. His song "Nothing Is Wasted" reached No. 1 on the Soft AC Chart in May 2013. In addition to his recording career, Gray hosted the Acoustic Storytime radio show for SiriusXM's The Message. He relocated from Minnesota to Nashville in 2015.
