About Godfrey Birtill
Godfrey Birtill is a singer-songwriter and worship leader who originates from Chorley, Lancashire and now resides in Cornwall. He has been married to his wife, Gill, for over forty years, and he is related to the Victorian hymnwriter James Montgomery.
Birtill entered full-time music ministry at the age of forty-three, having previously worked as a press photographer. His musical style is often described as acoustic-based folk, and he has traveled extensively throughout the UK, Ireland, the United States, and South Africa as part of his ministry.
He is known for leading events called “Glory in the Pub,” which involve taking worship music into public houses, and he has also performed his music in secure psychiatric hospitals. Among his songs are “Outrageous Grace,” “Just One Touch From The King,” “When I Look at the Blood,” “You’re Still God,” “Two Thousand Years Ago We Bled Into One,” “A Chip Off The Old Block,” and “Who Are YA?” “Just One Touch From The King” was named the CBC Praise and Worship song of the year.
