About Francesca Battistelli
Francesca Battistelli, an American singer and songwriter in the contemporary Christian music genre, was born on May 18, 1985, in New York City. As a teenager, she was a member of the Orlando-based mainstream pop group Bella before releasing her debut independent album, Just a Breath, in 2004.
Her major-label debut album, My Paper Heart, arrived in 2008 on Fervent Records, introducing a style often described as a blend of pop, soul, jazz, rock, and R&B. The album yielded the singles “I’m Letting Go” and “Free to Be Me” and was later certified Gold by the RIAA. She followed with the albums Hundred More Years (2011) and If We’re Honest (2014), the latter featuring the song “Holy Spirit.”
In 2016, Battistelli received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Holy Spirit.” She also earned multiple GMA Dove Awards, including Artist of the Year, and has received several RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications throughout her career. In 2018, she released the album Own It, which included the single “The Breakup Song.” Battistelli is married to Matt Goodwin.
