About Ellie Holcomb
Ellie Holcomb is an American singer-songwriter in the Contemporary Christian Music genre, known for scripture-infused music and multiple GMA Dove Awards. She was born Elizabeth Asher Bannister on September 12, 1982, and is based in Nashville, Tennessee. She is the daughter of music producer Brown Bannister.
Holcomb began her musical career in 2005 as a member of the band Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, which is fronted by her husband, Drew Holcomb. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in teacher education from the University of Tennessee, and she worked as an eighth-grade language arts teacher before focusing on her music career.
She pursued a solo career starting in 2011 with the release of the Magnolia EP, followed by her debut solo studio album, As Sure as the Sun, in 2014. Her subsequent albums include Red Sea Road (2017), Sing: Remembering Songs (2020), Canyon (2021), All of My Days (2024), and Far Country (2025). Notable songs in her catalog include “Find You Here” (2017) and “I Will Carry You” (2021).
Holcomb has also authored children’s books, including Who Sang the First Song? and Sounding Joy. Her book Who Sang the First Song? received the ECPA Bronze Award for selling over 100,000 copies. Her Dove Award wins include New Artist of the Year (2014), Children’s Album of the Year (2020) for Sing: Remembering Songs, Recorded Music Packaging (2022) for Canyon, and Children’s Recorded Song of the Year (2023) for “Sounding Joy.”
