Eko Dydda

Eko Dydda is a Kenyan gospel rapper known for his signature stammering rap style and his consistent focus on Christian music throughout his career. He was born and raised in the Eastlands area of Nairobi, Kenya, and made a personal decision to follow Christianity in class four. His stage name, Eko Dydda, was inspired by the phrase “I echo Jesus.” He rose to prominence in the Kenyan music scene following the release of his 2007/2009 collaboration “Niko na Reason” with fellow artist Holy Dave.

Beyond his music, Eko Dydda founded the “Tribe-All” movement, an initiative aimed at combating tribalism in Kenya. His catalog includes songs such as “Vidole,” “Me and My House,” “I’m Very Rare,” “Nina One,” and “Ghetto.” These releases helped establish him as a distinctive voice in Kenyan gospel hip-hop, blending his faith with a social message.

Eko Dydda’s contributions to gospel music have been recognized through several awards. He won the Male Artiste of the Year category at the Groove Awards, a feat he had accomplished twice by 2017. Additionally, he received the awards for Best Upcoming New Artist and Hottest Hip Hop Song of the Year at the 2010 Chaguo La Teeniz awards.
