Dion

Dion DiMucci, born on July 18, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, began his music career in the late 1950s as the lead singer of the vocal group Dion and the Belmonts. The group found early success with songs such as "I Wonder Why" and "A Teenager in Love." As a solo artist, DiMucci achieved significant commercial success with enduring hits including "Runaround Sue," "The Wanderer," and "Ruby Baby."

In 1968, DiMucci experienced a religious transformation and subsequently pursued a path of sobriety. That same year, he released "Abraham, Martin and John," a reflection of his shifting perspective. His faith deepened over the following years, leading him to record five gospel albums between 1980 and 1986. One of those releases, I Put Away My Idols, earned him a GMA Dove Award in 1984.

DiMucci was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. He has continued to release music across various genres, including blues, into the 2020s, with albums such as Blues with Friends. A practicing Catholic, he has spoken openly about his faith in interviews and in his memoir, The Rock 'N' Roll Philosopher.
