About Deon Kipping
Deon Kipping is a gospel musician, songwriter, and producer who has shaped modern worship music both as a solo artist and as a writer for other leading voices in the genre.
Born Deon Earl Maurice Kipping on April 9, 1979, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he developed his musical foundations early. He earned a degree in music from Lincoln University, where he also served as the music director for the gospel choir. In 2004, he formed the praise and worship group New Covenant, and two years later he released his debut album, Real Life. Real Worship., in 2006.
Kipping transitioned from behind-the-scenes songwriter to a recognized solo artist with his 2012 album I Just Want to Hear You, which peaked at No. 127 on the Billboard 200 and No. 6 on the Gospel Albums chart. He wrote gospel hits for other artists, including Marvin Sapp’s “Praise Him in Advance” and JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise’s “Incredible God, Incredible Praise.” For “Praise Him in Advance,” he received an ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Award.
In 2016, he released the EP A Place Called Victory, followed by the single “God Is Working” in 2020. Kipping has served as a worship leader at Redemption East in Greenville, South Carolina, and is the founder of the record label The Underestimated Group. He also released the single “Thanks Be To God” in 2026, continuing to add to his catalog of recorded worship music.
