David Leonard is a prominent American Contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter and record producer. He has had a multifaceted career in Christian music, transitioning from bands to a successful solo artist.
Early Career and Bands:
Born and raised in southeast Arkansas, David Leonard's musical journey began at a young age. He started leading worship at his father's college ministry services when he was 15. After college, he joined the Christian Southern rock band Jackson Waters as the lead vocalist, releasing two albums: All That I Know (2004) and Come Undone (2007). Following the band's disbandment, he briefly served as a touring keyboardist for the popular CCM band NEEDTOBREATHE.
All Sons & Daughters:
In 2009, seeking to create more authentic and worship-rooted music, Leonard teamed up with fellow worship leader Leslie Anne Jordan to form the critically acclaimed and GRAMMY-nominated duo All Sons & Daughters. Based out of Journey Church in Franklin, Tennessee, they signed with Integrity Music and released four full-length albums: Season One (2012), Live (2013), All Sons & Daughters (2014), and Poets & Saints (2016). Their folk-driven worship songs, including hits like "Great Are You Lord" and "All The Poor and Powerless," garnered widespread recognition and charted on various Christian, Folk, Heatseekers, and Billboard Top 200 charts. The duo announced their amicable parting in 2018.
Solo Career and Production Work:
Following the conclusion of All Sons & Daughters, David Leonard embarked on a solo career. In March 2019, he released his debut solo album, The Wait, which explored his personal and spiritual journey. He later signed with Provident Label Group and released his single "Every Hour" in 2022, followed by his sophomore album, Plans, in 2023, which leaned more into a pop-driven sound. His most recent album, Just Jesus, released in 2025, is described as more stripped-down, intimate, and purely faith-centered.
Beyond his artistry, Leonard is also a highly respected and Dove Award-winning producer. He is a creative partner in The Creak Music, a production group and independent label he co-founded with friends Seth Talley and Brad King in Franklin, Tennessee. Through The Creak Music, he has produced tracks for numerous notable artists including Brandon Lake, Cody Carnes, CAIN, and Ben & Noelle Kilgore. He is also a sought-after songwriter, with credits on songs recorded by artists like Katy Nichole, Brandon Heath, Matthew West, and MercyMe.
David Leonard's music often draws inspiration from his personal experiences and his deep faith, with a focus on creating environments for people to experience God in new ways. He is a husband and father, and his passion for music extends to fostering community and helping other artists craft their work.
