About Carlton Pearson
Carlton D'Metrius Pearson (1953–2023) was an American Christian minister and gospel music artist. Born in San Diego, California, he attended Oral Roberts University and sang with the World Action Singers. He was ordained in the Church of God in Christ and later became a bishop. Pearson founded the Higher Dimensions Evangelistic Center (later Higher Dimensions Family Church) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and hosted the annual AZUSA Conference there, which featured various gospel artists and ministers.
As a gospel vocalist, Pearson recorded several live albums, including Live at Azusa (1995), Live at Azusa 3 (1996), and Live at Azusa 2: Precious Memories (1997). He also released Bishop Carlton Pearson Presents The Best Of Azusa... Yet Holdin' On (2003). His catalog includes live recordings such as "Jesus Be a Fence Around Me - Live," "Hold to God's Unchanging Hand - Live," and "I Love the Lord - Live."
Pearson received two Stellar Awards and was nominated for a Dove Award. In his later career, he served as a minister at Christ Universal Temple and was an affiliate minister at All Souls Unitarian Church.
