About Caedmon's Call
Caedmon’s Call is a contemporary Christian music group known for blending folk, alternative rock, and roots worship music. The band was formed in 1993 in Houston, Texas, and its name was inspired by the 7th-century Anglo-Saxon monk Cædmon. Original members included Cliff Young, Danielle Glenn (later Danielle Young), Todd Bragg, Cari Harris, Doug Elmore, and Aaron Tate.
The group built a grassroots following and frequently toured college campuses. Over time, the lineup experienced various changes, including the departure and return of members such as Derek Webb. The band released several albums, beginning with “My Calm // Your Storm” in 1994. Their self-titled major-label debut, “Caedmon’s Call,” came out in 1997 and earned the band a Gospel Music Association Dove Award for Best Alternative/Modern Rock Album in 1998. The band has been associated with labels including Warner Alliance, Essential, and INO.
Caedmon’s Call continued to release music throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, with albums such as “40 Acres” (1999), “Long Line of Leavers” (2000), “In the Company of Angels: A Call to Worship” (2001), “Back Home” (2003), “Share the Well” (2004), and “Raising Up the Dead” (2010). In 2022, the band reformed to re-record their eponymous major-label debut album.
