About Brian Courtney Wilson
Brian Courtney Wilson is a gospel and contemporary Christian music singer whose career has been marked by a transition from the corporate world to the top of the Billboard Gospel charts. Born on November 1, 1971, in Bellwood, Illinois, he began singing in the adult male chorus at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood, Illinois. He went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, where he sang in the University of Illinois Black Chorus.
Before his music career took off, Wilson worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for Johnson & Johnson. He became a born-again Christian while attending Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. His breakthrough came when Mathew Knowles heard his song “Already Here” and signed him to the Spirit Rising/Music World label. Wilson released his debut album, Just Love, in 2009, followed by So Proud in 2012. He also became a member of the gospel group United Tenors, formed with Fred Hammond and others, releasing a self-titled album in 2013. He signed with Motown Gospel in 2015.
Wilson’s catalog includes albums such as Worth Fighting For (2015) and Still (2021), as well as singles “All I Need,” “Worth Fighting For,” and “A Great Work.” His work has received significant recognition: Worth Fighting For won the GMA Dove Award for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year. “A Great Work” reached number 1 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart, while “Still” hit number 1 on both the Billboard Gospel Songs chart and the Mediabase Gospel Airplay chart. He also scored a number 1 with “Always Peace” on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart. In addition, Wilson is a multiple-time Grammy Award nominee and a multiple-time Stellar Award winner.
