Benita Jones is an American gospel musician, singer, songwriter, and worship leader. Born April 23, 1976, in Selma, Alabama, she studied Voice Performance at the University of Alabama. She initially recorded under the name Benita Washington before establishing her ministry and music career.

Jones first gained national attention by winning the Gospel Music Channel’s “Gospel Dream” competition in 2003. Her debut album, Hold On (2004), debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. The album earned her a Soul Train “Lady of Soul” nomination for Best Gospel Album. She has also received Stellar Awards nominations, including for Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year. Her subsequent releases include Renaissance: Live in Nashville (2007), The Word Remains (2010), The Evolution (2018), and The Entreating (2020). Songs in her catalog include “Thank You,” “Good God,” and “A Better Word.”

Alongside her recording career, Jones has served extensively in local church ministry. She was a worship leader and overseer of music and worship arts at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, for over fifteen years. She later served as a pastor at All Nations Worship Assembly in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2014, she founded evolveU Worship, a ministry focused on mentoring worship leaders. She has also performed as a background vocalist for CeCe Winans.

Jones’s career has blended pastoral leadership, worship ministry, and gospel recording, reflecting a commitment to both music and church service.
