About Babbie Mason

Babbie Mason is a recognized gospel and contemporary Christian singer, songwriter, and author. She was born Babbie Yvett Robie Wade Mason on February 1, 1955, in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of a Baptist pastor, and grew up in a family with multiple generations of ministers. She began serving as a church pianist and choir director at age nine. Before pursuing music full-time, she worked as a schoolteacher in Michigan and Georgia.

Mason began her professional music career in 1984 and signed her first record deal with Word Records in 1989. Her songwriting and recording produced a number of songs that have found a home in church music, including “All Rise,” “Each One, Reach One,” “With All My Heart,” “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” “Standing in the Gap,” “A World of Difference,” and “Trust His Heart.” Her 1996 album Heritage of Faith is among her notable releases.

Over the course of her career, Mason has earned two Dove Awards, two ASCAP Awards, and ten number one radio singles. In 2010, she was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame. In 2022, she received the Golden Scroll Award from the Advanced Writers And Speakers Association.

In addition to her music, Mason is the host of the television talk show Babbie’s House. She has also served as an adjunct professor of songwriting at institutions including Lee University. Her career reflects a transition from the school classroom and church piano bench to a widely heard ministry in contemporary Christian music.
